The Wizard Of Oz

Just over forty-nine years ago our class chose to perform The Wizard of Oz for its senior play. I won’t name all the kids that held leading roles in the play for fear of leaving out someone. But it turned out to be a very good production. Surprisingly, it turned out that the storyline of the play was a fitting end to our final year at Louisville High School.

Just over a hundred of us were about to embark on a journey to find our own version of Emerald City.

Along our individual journeys we encountered obstacles we had to overcome. We made new friends to help us along our way. And we discovered that not everyone we met had our best interest at heart. Life happened to us and when we came to that infamous fork in the road not all of us took the same path. In fact, we discovered there were many forks in that yellow brick road. Choices, you may call them.

Sadly, we have lost several class members along our way to find Emerald City. Accidents, health problems, unfortunate choices.

As I look back at my own journey, I realize I didn’t make it this far on my own. None of us have. No man is an island. Family, friends, coworkers and faith enabled us to make it thus far.

As we reach the summit of the last hill, we can see Emerald City nearer than ever before. Most us are more fortunate than Dorothy. We haven’t needed a wizard to tell us that the power to reach our goals was within ourselves all along. All we had to do was dig deep and make the right choices.

Classmates have begun working behind the scenes back in our hometown to celebrate our 50th reunion next year. For you see, Emerald City turned out to something different for each of us, but home has never changed. I am looking forward to seeing everyone that will be able to make it back to Louisville.

We have managed to find contact information for most of our classmates, but there are a still few we need help with. We are trying to find out everyone’s cell phone number so as plans are finalized we can text plan information to everyone. Texting is faster and more cost efficient. But for those who may not have cell phones or may not text we will use whatever means we can to reach them. We need your help.

Listed below are the names of classmates we need information on. Feel free to private message me through Messenger or text message me at 270-564-1439 with any information you can share. We are trying to keep their information private and for reunion purposes only.

Thank you for your help. And I hope your journey down the Yellow Brick Road has been a good one. Hopefully, the flying monkeys were few and far between.
