Winter Is Leaving

Winter has come and seems to be leaving. In a sense it feels like the winter of 2020 came last March and stayed. Cabin fever has been with us for an entire year. Punxsutawney Phil succumbed to Mike the Mole. We hunkered down to hide for a while from the pandemic. Little did we know how long it would last.

We will emerge this spring missing loved ones and friends. Many people have lost their jobs or their businesses. We have experienced a painful change. Life is and will be different for many.

Recently I’ve watched as Sand Hill Cranes, Snow Geese and Canadian Geese have begun their migration northward. Daffodils and Hyacinths are popping up, beginning to bloom in my backyard. - All signs that a change is taking place.

Normally I don’t care for change, but these things I like.

My wife and I had our first round of shots last week and we’ve been told most of the country will have the same opportunity by midsummer.

So this long winter we have endured may be leaving. Those of us that were fortunate enough to make it through shouldn’t soon forget the lessons we’ve learned during this ordeal.

Let’s live as if tomorrow may not come. Hug the people we care about and tell them we love them. We may not get another opportunity. Wash your hands often. Be prepared, but don’t hoard. Look out for those less fortunate than we are. And let’s take nothing for granted.

Remember what he said. May the peace that passes all understanding be with you now and forevermore.

Spring is on its way.
