He married Emmie L. Bush December 22, 1925 in Rockford, Coosa Co., AL. Emmie was born November 28, 1899 in Gosport, Clarke Co., AL. Emmie was the daughter of Preston Randolph Bush and Harriet Eanes. Emmie died March 4, 1988 in Jackson, Clarke Co., AL.

Curtis Matthews and Emmie L. Bush had the following children:

 20623 i. Sara E.¹¹ Matthews was born December 13, 1926.

 20624 ii. Willis Bush (Bill) Matthews was born in AL August 30, 1928. Willis died November 8,1998.

 20625 iii. Margaret Ennis Matthews (living).
