Dewey died December 10, 2002 in Stephenville, Erath Co., TX. OBIT: Dewey Merlin Gibbs is my father. His father was Dewey Lee Gibbs, buried in Alameda County Calif. His father was Robert Leigh Gibbs buried there in Paducah, his father was Elbert Leigh Gibbs (DOB 18 Jan 1827, died 1906), buried in the Glade Chapel Cemetery, Falls County Texas between Kosse and Bremond off Hi Way 14, Co Rd 272, 2.1 miles to Co Rd 272, 1/10 mile on the left 100 paces off the Rd. Dewey Merlin Gibbs grew up in Paducah Texas at about 18 or 19 moved to South San Franisco, Calif. (A few years later his father & mother and family flowed him to Calif. (Hayward))Worked for the Swift Meat Packing Co. in about 1960 moved to Newark, Calif. Workde for Leslie C George Trucking Co. as a boss. In the summer of 1966 moved to Foresthill, Calif. Commuted to Alameda to work. in about 1969 moved to Oakland, Calif. for a few years. Moved back to Foresthill, Calif. Worked for Stockton Box Company which became American Forest Producks, Worked in the Truck shop and latter drove Logging Truck. The Mill shut down and Dad finished his working years off drive for a local trucking company. In about 1995 move to Stephenville Texas, his heart was always in Texas. Died of a stroak in Stephenville, Texas and is buried in the Paducah, Texas Cemetery. Dewey Merlin Gibbs was the oldest has 2 sisters Norma F Gibbs (Horton) Newark, Calif. Charlene E Gibbs (Mullins) Newark, Calif and 2 faternal twin brohters, Robert Eldon Gibbs, Spring Valley, Calif. and James Weldon Gibbs, Loomis, Calif.
Dewey Merlin Gibbs and Lenora Jeane Fafri had the following children:
