She married Olean Wayne Gowens September 8, 1951 in Etowah Co., AL. Olean was born February 4, 1933 in Etowah Co., AL. Olean was the son of Mancel Eligale Gowens and Pearl May Patterson. Olean died March 9, 2009. OBIT: Olean Wayne Gowens, 76, Hokes Bluff, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009. Cremation services provided by Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home.
Mr. Gowens graduated from Hokes Bluff High School. He was retired from Meadow Gold Dairy and had been a Mason for many years.
Mr. Gowens was preceded in death by his parents, Mancel and Pearl Gowens; and a son, Joel Gowens.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyne Gowens; two sons, Donnie (Martha) Gowens and John Gowens; daughter, Carol (Jerry) Downey; five grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
