ALBERTA JUNE HOFFMAN HUTCHESON DEDAKIS

1918-2003

June passed through the "garden wall of life" on September 9, 2003 as the sun was rising on a new day - her morning was filled with light and her soul was carried away by the wings of a dove. She waited so patiently for all of her family to return the night before and endured so nobly that morning for them to gather. We thank you so much, June, for giving us those final treasured moments.

She was greeted by her beloved Hamby, Tom, Dewey and Heidi. She is survived by her children: Homer Hamby Hutcheson, Timothy Len Hutcheson, MaryAnn DeDakis Barlow and Lillian DeDakis Johnson and their families.

Her sister, Monica Hoffman Ustick, and brother, Col. George Earl Hoffman, Jr., both now living in Gulf Breeze will miss "Sister June" immensely. Their children, grand children and great grandchildren will always have "Aunt June" with them through the hand made treasures she gave to them.

June was a "Pensacola girl", daughter of United States District Attorney George Earl Hoffman and his wife Monica Alberta Hoffman. Born and raised at 900 East Gadsden St. Her first husband was Cdr. Homer Hamby Hutcheson, USN. His plane was lost in the Pacific in 1944.

In February of 1956, June married Thomas George DeDakis. They built their home on East Mallory St. between Bayou Texar and Pensacola Bay and shared a life of love sprinkled with a generous dose of dancing until Tom passed away in 1992

June was an accomplished seamstress. For many years she was the costume designer for the DeMarco School of Dance and many homes in Pensacola are adorned with her upholstery work, quilts, dolls and crocheted animals. Taking a box of her handmade toys to the hospitals at Christmas time was her tradition. She raised Kerry Blue Terriers and loved to dance.

There will be a viewing on Monday, Sept 15th at 4pm for family and 5-7pm for friends at the Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel at Bayview Memorial Park. Friends are invited to gather for a funeral service with her family at Ft. Barrancas, NAS Pensacola, on Tuesday, Sept 16th at 1:15pm.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and the nursing staff of Gulf Breeze Baptist Hospital and especially to Dr. Anita Westafer who was so devoted and courageous in her care and so gentle, loving and supportive in June's final days. We would also like to give a special "thank you" to the Professional Care Givers of Cantonment. Your care of and devotion to "Aunt June" will always be remembered. Carla - you and your staff have earned your wings.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Gulf Breeze Baptist Hospital Fund in June's name.

June asked that we give all of you who shared this life with her a message: "Tell everyone not to be sad, I'm free of this broken down body, I'm happy and best of all, I'm dancing."

June's grandchildren Karen, Hamby, Joseph, Kelly, Rebecca, Genevieve, Jacque, Cynthia, Steven, Bill, Cheryl, Krystal, Kelly, Andria, and Betsy: and great-grand children: Johnathan, Zachery, Joey, Autumn, Joseph, Hunter, Justin, Adam, Rebecca, Alexandria, Allison, Stephanie, Jason, Daniel, and Heather each say goodbye to "Grandma June" with all their love and kisses.

Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
