Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Village Chapel for Martha Rachel
Burks, 52, Gadsden, who went to be with the Lord and Savior on Wednesday,
June 5, 2002. The Rev. Donnie Kirby will officiate. Burial in Forrest Cemetery.
Village Chapel Funeral Home, Alabama City, is in charge.
Mrs. Burks went to be with her Lord where she is now walking with him.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Gaskey; brother, Richard
Gaskey; and sister, Patricia Gaskey.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Henry Burks; son, Phillip
"Scottie" Burks, Gadsden; daughter, April Burks, Gadsden; mother, Florence
Gaskey, Gadsden; brothers, Andrew "Andy" (LaWanda) Gaskey, Cullman, Danny
(Theresa) Gaskey, Gadsden, and Lanny Gaskey, Gadsden; sisters, Louise (Willard)
Bowden, Georgia, Barbara (Buford) Pruitt, Reece City, Brenda (the late
James) Prater, Arkansas, Judy Hagan and Reta (Bobby) Wilbanks, Sylvania;
several nieces and nephews; many friends and family; special nephews, David
Gaskey and Steven Hagan; and special friends, Amy, Madison and Morgan Hamilton.
A very special thanks to all the employees of Rural Metro Ambulance
Service and Gambro Healthcare Dialysis Center.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kwan, Dr. Ghafary, Dr. Debra Reiland,
NCBNN, Dr. H. Patel, Dr. Sparks, Dr. Szeto, Dr. Hwang, Dr. Jagadeesan,
Dr. Hakim, Riverview Regional Medical Center, nurses of ICU second floor,
Physicians Apothecary and the congregation of Living Water Church of God
of Prophecy.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Wilbanks, David Gaskey, Kenneth Dorsett,
Barry Norman, Keith Smith, Ken Maltvie, Jonathon Loyd and Kelly O’Bryant.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes and Kidney
Foundations.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral
home.
Martha Rachel Gaskey and Henry Thomas Burks had the following children:
