William died May 25, 2010 in Polk Co., GA. OBIT: Mr. William Marion Hutcheson, age 89 of Calloway Path, Rockmart passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010.
Mr. Hutcheson was born on November 30, 1920 in the Draketown Community of Haralson County, son of the late Willard D. Hutcheson and the late Ruby Hiett Hutcheson. He was a very active Mason and served as Grand Master of Masons for the state of Georgia from 1990-1991 and served as Sovereign Grand Inspector General of the Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, USA for 11 years.
Mr. Hutcheson retired from the United States Army having served from 1940 until 1961, serving with the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper in World War II and with the 3rd Airborne Ranger Company in Korea. He was also a member of the 10th Special Forces Group (Green Beret). Mr. Hutcheson was wounded in 1944 in Holland and again in 1951 in Korea.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rockmart. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Anne F. Hutcheson on March 6, 2005; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sara & Horace Shephard.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Anne Dressler of Cartersville; a son, William T. (Tommy) Hutcheson and wife Karen of Canton; and two brothers, Willard S. (Billy) Hutcheson and wife Bazz of New GA and John Robert (Bobby) Hutcheson of Rockmart. Four grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth Anne Anderson (Grant Anderson) of Calhoun, Diane Faye Williams (Dr. Paul Williams) of Advance, N.C., Suzanne Anderson (Reid Anderson) of Cordova TN, and Rev. Andrew Dressler (Jennifer Dressler) of Birmingham AL. Nine great-grandhildren, Samuel and Timber Anderson of Calhoun, Spencer, Palmer and Cooper Williams of Advance N.C., Dean and Jay Anderson of Cordova TN, and River and Autumn Dressler of Birmingham AL.
Funeral graveside services for Mr. Hutcheson will be held on Saturday, March 27th at 1:00 p.m. in the family lot of the Macland Cemetery, 4075 Macland Rd., Powder Springs GA 30127 with his grandson, the Rev. Andrew Dressler officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be performed by past Grand Master P. Suttles in the the Rockmart Masonic Lodge #97 assisted by the West Georgia Memorial Club. The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Grant Anderson, Sam Anderson, Carey Hutcheson, Stan Ezzell, Christopher Rix and Dr. Paul Williams. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, March 26th between the hours of 5 and 9 p.m.
He married Anne Beatrice Finch May 18, 1943 in Paulding Co., GA. Anne was born August 30, 1925 in Polk Co., GA. Anne was the daughter of Willl Finch and Burnie L Hulsey. Anne died March 6, 2005 in Smyrna, Cobb Co., GA. William was a Masonic Grand Master. He served in the 101st Airborne Divison during World War II and the 3rd Airborne Ranger in Korea.
William Marion Hutcheson and Anne Beatrice Finch had the following children:
