Raymond died Septembe 15, 2007. OBIT: Mr. Raymond Gerald Ezzell, age 83, of 16 Forest Heights St., Buchanan, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007. Mr. Ezzell was born in Haralson County on October 15, 1923. He was the son of the late Johnnie Ezzell and Myrtle Hutcheson Ezzell. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mack Ezzell, and sister, Carolyn Ezzell.
Mr. Ezzell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII on the USS Saratoga. He was retired from Lockheed-Martin Aeronautical Engineers and loved woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Posey Ezzell, of Buchanan; and son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ann Ezzell, of Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Rick Denson, of Douglasville; two brothers, Fred Ezzell, of Buchanan, Dwight Ezzell, of Bremen; one sister, Betty Gentry, of Buchanan; three grandchildren, Chris Denson, Vanessa and Gary Thomas and Lucretia and Doug Gibbs; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 16, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Buddy Gentry and Mr. Danny Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers, Harold Philpot, Craig Philpot, Larry Hutcheson, Billy Hutcheson, Will Jennings, Nathan Thomas and with full military honors provided by the Haralson County Veterans Association.s
He married Betty Jean Posey December 24, 1948 in Buchanan, Haralson Co., GA. Betty was born January 11, 1931 in Buchanan, Haralson Co., GA. Betty was the daughter of Marshall Edward Posey and Hattie Pearl Whisnhunt. Betty died November 5, 2016 in Wilkes Co., GA. OBIT: Mrs. Betty Jean Posey Ezzell, age 85,of Buchanan passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016.
Mrs. Ezzell was born in Buchanan, Georgia, on January 11, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Marshall Edward Posey and the late Hattie Pearl Whisenhant Posey.
Mrs. Ezzell was retired from Arrow Shirt Company where she worked as an inspector. She loved her family very much and enjoyed “looking after them.” Her kitchen was her domain and she enjoyed cooking. She also enjoyed gardening.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Gerald Ezzell; two sisters, Louise Dean and Janelle Rice; and three brothers, Roger Posey, Adrian Posey, and Foster Posey.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; one son and daughter-in-law; two sisters and one brother-in-law; one grandson; two step-granddaughters; six step-great grandchildren; eight step-great great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Dr. Aaron Johnson, Dr. John Pennington and Danny Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
Raymond Gerald Ezzell and Betty Jean Posey had the following children:
