Ralph died July 4, 1997 in Dublin, Laurens Co., GA.
He married Jananne Cowart. Jananne was born April 20, 1923 in Terrell Co., GA. Jananne was the daughter of Archie T. Cowart and Myrtle Bridges. Jananne died November 28, 2002 in Dublin, Laurens Co., GA. Services for Mrs. Jananne C. Wood, 79, of Dublin will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at Pine Forest United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Wood died Thursday, Nov. 28 at her home.
Mrs. Wood was a native of Terrell County. She was the daughter of the late Arch T. Cowart, Sr. and the late Myrtle Bridges Cowart. She attended Georgia State Women's College in Valdosta and graduated from Peabody College in Nashville, TN in 1943. She was a charter member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church and was a volunteer at Fairview Park Hospital. Mrs. Wood was a retired kindergarten teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wood.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann W. Lawrence of Dublin; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Charles Shaw of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Tommy Wood of Atlanta; grandsons Todd and Mark Lawrence, both of Athens; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ella Mae Cowart of Bronwood. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home today from 6 until 8 p.m.
