GA March 8, 1926. Carlton died January 17, 1996 in Haralson Co. GA.
He married twice. He married Lillie Ophelia Stanford December 24, 1947 in Draketown, Haralson Co. GA. Lillie was born January 4,1929 in Polk Co., GA. Lillie was the daughter of Roy Edgar Stanford and Pearlie Mae Garner. Lillie died August 16, 2011 in Temple, Carroll Co., GA. OBIT: Mrs. Lillie Ophelia Stanford Goldin, 82, of John Goldin Road, Temple, passed away August 16, 2011. Mrs. Goldin was born on January 4, 1929, in Polk County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Roy Edgar Stanford and Pearl Garner Stanford.
In 1983, she retired from teaching with 35 years of service with Haralson County Board of Education and Paulding County Board of Education. She was a member of NEA, GEA, Local Unit of Georgia Teachers and recieved awards for Teacher of the Year, Dallas Elementary Yearbook Dedication and nominated for Georgia Teacher Hall of Fame. She attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Goldin in 1996; brothers, Roy Edgar Stanford Jr., James Franklin Stanford and Raymond Edward Stanford Sr.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Carlton and Patti Goldin of Draketown; daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie "Sue" and Ricky Thompson of Paulding County; five grandchildren, Brittani Alexander, Jacob Goldin, Isaac Goldin, Lundy Thompson, and Levi Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Christian Alexander, Libby Alexander and Jaeden Alexander; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted Thursday, August 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. from Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Dr. Corky Addison and Reverend Wendell Rush officiating. Reverend Keith Arp will officiate graveside services. Music will be provided by Corky and Wanda Addison, Amy Bearden, Dennis McCullough and the church choir accompanied by Betty Golden. Jacob Goldin, Isaac Goldin, Lundy Thompson, Levi Thompson, Christopher Stanford, Zackary Samples and Shane Shadrix will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Draketown Cemetery.
