Agnes died January 4, 1996 in Phenix City, Russell Co., AL. Mrs. Agnes McClure, 77, of 3100 Kent Drive, Phenix City, died Thursday, January 4, 1996 at her home. A graveside service was held Jaunary 6, 1996 at 11:00AM EST in Newsome Cemetery, Phenix City, according to Vance Memorial Chapel. Mrs. McClure was born to Rosa Lavada Statham and Joseph Fletcher Newsome on November 29, 1918 in Phenix City. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Phenix City. Survivors include four daughters; Peggy McClure, V. Patricia Smith, and A. Diann Cannon, all of Phenix City, and Doris A. Taft of Waverly Hall, Georgia; five sons, D.A. McClure, Jr. of Waco, Georgia, Charles L. McClure of Bristol, CT., Kenneth E. McClure of Phenix City, Joseph O. (Red) McClure of Seale, Alabama, and W. Dennis McClure of McDonough, Georgia; three sisters, Wilma L. Whidden of Columbus,Georgia, Zera A. Hand of Phenix City, and Violet I. Stringfellow; and two brothers, Benjamin (Bud) Newsome of Fortson, Georgia and Hubert O. Newsome of Phenix City; and 30 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

She married Dewitt Andrew McClure November 2, 1933 in Seale, Russell Co., AL. DeWitt and Agnes were married by Judge of Probate H. R. (Homer) Dudley at hs his in Seale, AL

Dewitt was born December 11, 1916 in Itasca, Hill Co., TX. Dewitt was the son of Willie M. McClure and Lattie Mae Moore. Dewitt died July 11, 1994 in Phenix City, Russell Co., AL. Dewitt Andrew McClure Sr., 77 of Phenix City, died Monday at Phenix Regional Hospital. The graveside funeral will be 4p.m. today at Newsome Cemetery, according to Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City. Mr. McClure was born Dec. 11, 1916 in Itasca, Texas, son of Willie William McClure and Lattie Moose McClure Booth. He retired from Central of Georgia Railroad and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Survivors include his wife, Agnes; four daughters, Peggy McClure, Patricia Smith and Diann Cannon all of Phenix City, and Doris Taft of Waverly Hall, Ga.; five sons, Kenneth McClure and Joseph Oliver McClure Sr., both of Phenix City, Dewitt A. McClure Jr. of Waco, Ga., Charles McClure of Bristol, Conn., and Dennis McClure of Jonesboro, Ga.; a sister, Doris Christensen of Brigham City, Utah; three half brothers, Denard Booth and Oliver Booth , both of Columbus, and Wallace Booth of Sandy Springs, Ga
