James died May 28, 2001 in Richmond, Henrico Co., VA. OBIT: Mr. James Ray Dinkins of Richmond, Va,. and Yadkinville passed away Monday, May 28, 2001, at his home in Richmond, Va.

He was born March 5, 1928, in Yadkin County to Robert and Minnie Mathis Dinkins.

Mr. Dinkins was a retired staff representative for the Communications Workers of America. He was a past president of Local 3060 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County; the Retirees Club of Rosa; the CWA Retirees Club; and was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church in Yadkinville.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Cranford Dinkins of the home; three children, Gary Dean Dinkins of Richmond, Va., Cheryl Dinkins Spain and husband Marion of Mount Jackson, Va., and Michael Ray Dinkins and wife Pat of Clemmons; his mother, Minnie Mathis Dinkins; four grand-children, Christopher Dinkins, Mary Beth Dinkins, Jessie Spain Fisher and husband Jason and Sean Spain; a sister, Treva Brown; and a brother, Nelson Dinkins.

His funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thurs-day at Deep Creek Baptist Church by Dr. Ron Davis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service, Highway 601 N., Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

James Ray Dinkins and Mary Mae Cranford had the following children:
