Carl died April 24, 2005 in Roanoke, Botetourt Co., VA. OBIT: Carl Austin Peoples, 85, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 24, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Octavia Peoples; son, Ronald K. Peoples; and sister, Lucille Foster. Carl was retired from Graybar Electric Company after 35 years of service. He was a member of Melrose Baptist Church and a former member of Villa Heights Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and held many offices and was a choir member for many years. He was a member of Melrose Masonic Lodge # 139 and was a past Worshipful Master and a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Also, he was a member of the Virginia Unit of Airstream Trailers. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie W. Peoples; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Douglas and Jennie Peoples of Chattanooga, Tenn., Kenneth L. and Alexandra Peoples of Arlington, Va.; daughters, Sheree E. Lupoli and Beverlee D. Peoples, both of Roanoke; sisters, Pauline P. Jenkins and Dorothy D. Williams, both of Winston-Salem, N.C.; granddaughter, Eliza Veta Peoples. Services will be held at Melrose Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 27, at 1 p.m. with the Rev Larry Sprouse officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Melrose Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel, 362-1237.
