Wilma died June 12, 2007 in Grand Island, Hall Co., NE. Obit: Wilma E. Rudnick, 81, of Grand Island died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Wedgewood Care Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Bev Hieb will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family greeting friends from 5 to 6, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rudnick was born Aug. 28, 1925, at Long Pine to Edward and Mae (Cooper) Huggins.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Ted Rudnick of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Stanley Schmidt of St. Libory; and a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jacqueline Rudnick of Grand Island.

Other survivors include her grandchildren, Lawrence and wife Julie Schmidt, Jeffrey and wife Karen Schmidt, Alan Schmidt, Joey and wife Susanne Schmidt, Jamie Rudnick, and Jennifer Rudnick; great-grandchildren, Justin Schmidt, Kordeal Schmidt, Mercedes Schmidt, Trevor Schmidt, Jason Schmidt, and Joshua Schmidt; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Lane Hamik, Kendra Hamik, and Cody Hamik.

Wilma attended the District 36 Country School north of Ainsworth and graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1943.

She went to Radio Electronics School in Omaha. After graduation, she moved back to Ainsworth.

Her brother, Glen, wrote and asked her to come to Seattle to help care for his children. Wilma worked for the Army Engineers in the old Textile Tower Building in Seattle, where the Army was building bases in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands during World War II.

After the war, she was united in marriage to Ted Rudnick on Aug. 25, 1945, in Seattle. After they married, she was transferred to San Francisco while Ted was decommissioning ships.

The couple returned to Ainsworth after Ted's discharge from the Navy. They lived in Ainsworth for two months, later moving to Wyoming before returning to Ainsworth five years later.

Ted was employed as a carpenter, remodeling a church. Wilma was a homemaker who stayed home raising their two children. She later was the bookkeeper at Masters Lube, sold flowers at Ainsworth Produce, and worked at the city clerk office in Ainsworth. She was very active in VFW Auxiliary in Ainsworth and served as president. Ted and Wilma moved to Grand Island in 1976.

Wilma loved flowers. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, bowling, square dancing and collecting angels and cookbooks. Her biggest enjoyment in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by everyone she knew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Alma, Nola, Esther and an infant sister; six brothers, Noles, Glenn, Alvin, Raymond, and twin brothers; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Lynn.

Memorials are to be given in care of the family to be designated at a later date.

She married Theodore (Ted) H. Rudnick August 25, 1945 in Seattle, King Co., WA. Theodore was born May 19, 1925 in Tilden, Antelope Co, NE. Theodore was the son of William Rudnick and Reminie Budde. Theodore died June 9, 2014 in grand Island, Hall Co., NE.

Wilma Ellen Huggins and Theodore (Ted) H. Rudnick had the following children:
