Philip died May 6, 2002 in Basalt, Bingham Co., ID. SHELLEY -Philip W. Hatley, 80, of Basalt, Idaho, died May 6, 2002, at his home following a l ingering illness. He was born Sept. 22, 1921, in American Falls, Idaho, to Roy W. Hatley an d Lorena Jones Hatley. He spent his childhood in the Rattlesnake and Crystal areas of Arbon V alley. He attended high school in American Falls and after graduation, he served in the Arm y Air Force for three years. For 18 months, he served in England as crew chief and flight engineer on B17s, and was then stationed at Harrington Air Base in Kansas, where he met his future wife. On April 28, 1946, he married Dora Lee Harvey at Dunlap, Kan. Their marriage was late r solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked at the Atomic Energy Commission site (now Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory) near Arco as a maintenance carpenter supervisor for 31 years. He also farmed for many years. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a counselor in the bishopric, and he and his wif e served two missions - one to Nebraska City, Neb., and the other to the LDS Family History C enter in Salt Lake City. He served as a Boy Scout leader for 20 years and earned many awards , including the highest honor presented to Scout leaders, the Silver Beaver award. Survivor s include his wife, DoraLee Hatley of Basalt; a daughter, Ramona (Bert) Taylor of Basalt; a brother, Lee Hatley of Blackfoot; four sisters, Marjorie Robinson of Sequim, Wash., Helen Thornton of Littleton, Colo., Dona Jean Bishoff of Blackfoot and Sharon Kent of Idaho Falls; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald ; and a sister, Glenda Faye. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Firth LDS Stake Center, 133 S. Main in Basalt, with Bishop Greg Anderson officiating. The family will visit with friends tonight, May 9, from 7 to 8:30 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak in Shelley , and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Basalt Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion Stewart Hoover Post 23 of Blackfoof

He married Dora Lee Harvey April 28, 1946 in Elmdale, Chase Co., KS. Dora was born July 20, 1926 in Elmdale, Chase Co., KS. Dora was the daughter of Oliver Blakely Harvey and Ruby Adean Stone. Dora died September 4, 2015. OBI: Dora Lee "Abbie" Hatley was reunited with the love of her life Friday, Sept. 4, 2015. She finally caught the bus at the age of 89 years young. Abbie was born July 20, 1926, in Elmdale, Kan., to Oliver Blakely Harvey and Ruby Adean Stone Harvey. After graduating high school, she worked at Herington Air Force Base as a mechanic and sheet metal worker on B-29s. It was here that she met her future husband, Philip Hatley, in December of 1944. They were married April 28, 1946, in Dunlap, Kan. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on Jan. 13, 1961. After their marriage, they made their home just outside of Basalt, Idaho. In 1950, they were blessed with their beautiful daughter, Ramona Lee Hatley. Abbie drove school bus for Firth School District for 15 years. She will always be remember for putting on her bright red lipstick and leaving an indelible mark on the cheek of the naughty kids for their mothers to find. She also spent many years working for several area farmers during spud harvest. She started her career as a hand picker and worked up to truck driver. Abbie was very active in the LDS church, especially in the Scouting program. She and Phil prepared countless young men to receive their Eagle Scout. They were also fortunate enough to serve two missions for the church. Besides her family, her greatest love was genealogy. She spent all of her free time and her son-in-law's inheritance searching for ancestors. Abbie is survived by her daughter, Ramona (Bert) Taylor of Basalt; her brother, William (Min Soon) Harvey of Kapolei Hawaii; her sister, Mary Ellen Harvey of Iowa City Iowa; her dear friend, Rosie Ryan, also of Iowa City; her treasured grandkids, Travis (Melissa) Taylor of Firth, Stephanie (Wade) Jones of Basalt, Shannon (Greg) Cameron of Belgrade, Mont., Danielle (Jared) Dursteler of Idaho Falls and Blake (Stacey) Taylor of Firth; and her 13 wonderful great-grandkids who will miss her and her gummie bears dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Teton Home Health and Hospice for all they did for her and her family. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Basalt Ward Chapel, 823 N. 625 E. The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak St., in Shelley, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
