Hazel died April 27, 2002 in Battle Creek, Ida Co., IA. OBIT: The funeral for Hazel Volkmann, 75, of Battle Creek will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove.
Mrs. Volkmann died April 27 at home. She was born March 17, 1927, in Woodbine to Rueben and Blanche (Hardy) Malone. She grew up and received her education in the Dows City area. She lived with her husband south of Battle Creek, where they farmed for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove.
Mrs. Volkmann was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, in 1980.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Collins and husband, Gerald, of Sioux City, Mary Durston and husband, Doug, of Battle Creek and Donna of Sioux City; three sons, Larry and wife, Cynthia, of Odebolt, David of Sioux City, and Walter of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Anna Wendt and husband, Melvin, of Woodbine, Marcelene Vogt of Dow City, and Minnie Gustafton and husband, Harland, of Omaha; one brother, Earl Malone, of Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Battle Creek. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Battle Creek. Leroy and Hazel are buried in the Battle Creek, Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ida Co., IA
She married Leroy Rudolph Volkmann. Leroy was born May 6, 1913 in Schaller, Sac Co., IA. Leroy was the son of Rdolph Volkman and Maria Mary Miller. Leroy died April 16, 1980.
