Floyd died August 29, 2009 in Terre Haute, Vigo Co., IN. OBIT: Floyd F. Cushman, 88, of Casey, Illinois, passed away at 4:29 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
He was born on June 16, 1921, in Springerton, Illinois, the son of Walter Latham Cushman and Ida Winder Cushman. On June 15, 1940, he married Ruby H. Williams, in Kentucky.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ruby H. Cushman of Casey; daughter, Sondra K. Powell and husband Clyde of Rockville, Ind.; sons, Richard L. Cushman and wife Nancy of Marshall, and Walt D. Cushman of Atlanta; brother, Hildan Cushman of Texas; sister, Maxine Lee of Fairfield; grandchildren, Brent Powell and wife Annette, Brian Powell and wife Kris; Rhonda Curran and husband Dan; Chuck Cushman, Matt Cushman and wife Erin, Eric Cushman and Holly Cushman; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Beasley and husband Jimmy, Taylor Powell, Adam Powell, Logan Powell and Aidan Curran; and great-great-grandson, Griffin Beasley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Rosemary Flexter.
Floyd spent most of his life working as a equipment operator, tool pusher and driller in the oilfields. He also worked for Staley's Mobil Service Center in Casey for many years. He was retired from Charleston Stone Company in Charleston. Floyd was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of the Casey Veteran of Foreign Wars and Marshall American Legion.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. CDT Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Markwell Funeral Home, in Casey, with Brother Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Springerton Cemetery, Springerton.
He married Ruby Helen Williams June 15, 1940 in Pendleton Co., KY. Ruby was born March 4, 1922 in Enfield, White Co., IL. Ruby was the daughter of Samuel Williams and Mary Foley. Ruby died June 11, 2013 in Casey, IL. OBIT: Ruby Helen (Williams) Cushman, 91, of Casey, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Heartland Nursing Center in Casey. She was born March 4, 1922 in Enfield, the daughter of Samuel Williams and Mary Foley Williams. On June 15, 1940 she married Floyd Franklin Cushman in Kentucky. He passed away on August 29, 2009. Survivors include daughter, Sondra K. Powell and husband Clyde of Rockville, Ind.; son, Richard L. Cushman and wife Nancy of Marshall; son, Walt D. Cushman of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Sam Williams, Jr. of Carmi; sister in law, Maxine Lee of Fairfield; grandchildren, Brent Powell and wife Annette, Brian Powell and wife Kris; Rhonda Curran and husband Dan; Chuck Cushman, Matt Cushman and wife Erin; Eric Cushman and Holly Cushman; great grandchildren, Chelsea Beasley and husband Jimmy, Taylor Powell, Adam Powell, Logan Powell and Aidan Curran and great great grandsons, Griffin Beasley, Kainan Beasley and Jackson Cushman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Robert Williams; brother in law, Howard Lee and sister in law, Joan Williams. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Hammack Cemetery in Springerton with Rev. Carroll Kakac officiating.
