James died October 24, 2004 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co, AL. Obit: GASKEY, REV. JAMES DAVID Funeral was held at 3:00 Oct 26 at Collier-Buttler Funeral Chapel for Rev. James David Gaskey, age 43, of Gadsden, who walked out of this life into the presence of the Lord Oct 24, 2004 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham at 6:00 a.m. Pastors Larry Perkins, J. Ben Killingsworth and Tracy Evers officiate. Burial at Morton's Chapple Cemetary, Hwy 278. Collier-Butler dirrected. David was a resedent of Etowah County and a member of the Gospel Truth Church and an ordained minister of the gospel. He served as a Deacon of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church prior to coming to Gospel Truth. He served in the United States Army as a helicopter repairman, with the rank of Sergeant, and served 2 1/2 tours in Germany. He was proud to be an American, and glad to have served his country. He was employed with Qore Properties for 11 years as a Scientific Engineer. James, known to his family and friends as, Jim or David, was the kind of man who loved life, family , and his Savior Jesus Christ. He was preceeded in death by his wife: Teresa Ann Gaskey, sister: Sgt. Elzoria M. White, grandparents: Dayton Gaskey, Annie and Dewey Harris, Radie Mae Crocker, Homer and Lula Crocker and Uncle: Rev. Jimmy Harris He is survived by ,daughters: Kayla Gaskey, Gadsden; choosen daughter: Alyssa Ward, Gadsden; Parents: James and Cora Gaskey, Boaz; sisters: Carolyn Wooley, and Jamie Camp, both from Boaz, and Pastor Martha Perkins, Rainbow City; Brothers: Floyd Vaughn, Glenco, Ruben Gaskey, LaFayette, GA, Donald Gaskey, LaFayette, Ga sisters-in-law: Phyllis Barton, Attalla;Aunts: Jackie Harris and Rudy Johnson; Uncle: Raymond Gaskey; 10 great nieces and 11 greas nephews; a wonderful church family and a host of friends. Pallbearers were Johnathan Portwood, Rev. Bobby Portwood, Scottie Vaughn, Rev. Darrell Evers, Rev. Arther Furgatt, Tommy Barber, John Barber and Larry Humphrey. David's favorite scriptures the past months have been- Psalms 23 and 91.
He married Teresa Ann Kirby. Teresa was born April 23, 1965. Teresa was the daughter of Bethel C. Kirby and Opal Irene (___). Teresa died February 28, 2004 in Gadsden, Etowah Co. AL. Obit: GASKEY, TERESA ANN KIRBY Funeral services were Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Collier Butler Chapel for Mrs. Teresa Ann Kirby Gaskey, age 38 of Gadsden who died Saturday, February 28, 2004. Rev. Larry Perkins and Rev. Tracy Evers officiated. Burial was at Morton's Chapel Cemetery Collier Butler Funeral Home directed. Teresa was a native of Fulton County, GA., and a lifelong resident of Etowah County. A member of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church where she taught Sunday School. She was a devoted mother and loving wife who loved the Lord and had a special passion for children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bethel C. and Opal Irene Kirby; aunt, Lillian Allen and uncles, A.J. Raney, Tommy and Glenn Kirby. She is survived by her husband, James David Gaskey; daughters, Kayla Gaskey and Allysa Ward, both of Gadsden; sister, Phyllis Barton and husband James, Attalla; nieces and nephews, Lisa Barton, DeAnna (Josh) Tarnate, Kevin Barton, Michael (Tammy) Camp, Eric Silvey, Daniel (Jody) Silvey, Christopher (Tonya) Vaughn, Arthur (Susan) Vaughn, Scott (Jennifer) Vaughn, Mary (Joel) Currothers, Kristin (Chad) Hambrick and Tiffany Wooley; aunts, Annie Myrl Haynes, Shirley Faye Kirby and Margie Elrod; several cousins, other loved ones and friends. Pallbearers were Bobby and Jonathan Portwood, Arthur Fuggatt, Homer Camp, Randy Collins, Eddie Brewer, Darrell Evers and Michael Camp. Honorary Pallbearers were all personal friends.
