Martha died April 13, 2005 in Jacksonville, Duval Co, FL. Obit: JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Martha Doub Griffin, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2005. Born in Forsyth County, N.C., she moved to Jacksonville in 1941. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Jacksonville. Mrs. Griffin was predeceased by her late husband, James Elworth Griffin, who passed away Nov. 26, 2003, after 65 years of marriage. She is survived by her two sons, Gordon Griffin and Norman Griffin; a brother, Eugene Doub; three sisters, Grace Cromwell, Flora Burnette and Nancy Jo Poolos; four grandchildren, Joy Thomas, Brent Griffin, Stacey Sima and Kimberly Wolfe; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, N.C., under the direction of Vogler and Sons Funeral Home, Winston-Salem, N.C.
She married James Elworth Griffin October 23, 1937 in Pfafftown, Forsyth Co., NC. James was born April 20, 1917. James died November 26, 2003 in Jacksonville, Duval Co, FL.
Martha Mae Doub and James Elworth Griffin had the following children:
