Born Feb. 8, 1927, in Rowan County, Mr. Hoffner was a son of the late Floyd Taylor and Lillie Bell Allgood Hoffner. He attended school in Salisbury and Aberdeen, Md., and was a 1948 graduate of East Spencer High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army, retiring in 1972 after 20 years. After he retired, he worked as a projectionist. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Spencer.
Survivors include his wife Wanda Riker Hoffner, whom he married Feb. 11, 1969; son Steven Eugene Hoffner, Foothill Ranch, Calif.; sisters Juanita Hoffner Woodward, Springfield, Va., Helen Hoffner Elium, New London, and Marie Hoffner Lomax, Salisbury; and two grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Summersett Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. FranklinMyers, pastor, First Baptist Church, Spencer. Burial, Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Military rites by Pope Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Visitation: 2:30-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of his sister, Marie H. Lomax, 104 Halifax Circle.
