Mrs. Griffin was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late William Andrew and Dora Tabitha Reeves Steelman. She was married to Frank Burnice Neal who died in 1935 and to J. Sparks Griffin who died in 1987. She was retired from the VA Medical Center in Oteen where she served as assistant Personnel Director. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Bing Neal Lane of Asheville; one brother, Bob Steelman of Clyde; one granddaughter, Melissa Lane of Vermont; and one niece, Nancy Rae Steelman Holcher. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery, Ashville, Buncombe Co., NC
