Walter died February 8, 2005 in Pekin, Tazewell Co., IL. OBIT: Walter D. Newby, 90, of 2501 Allentown Road, died at 8:15 p.m. February 8, 2005 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin. He was formerly of 444 South Parkway Drive, Apartment 515 in Pekin. Born January 1, 1915 in White County, Illinois to William Presley and Mina Gertrude Baity Newby, he married Grace Duckworth on August 20, 1934 in Carmi. She died April 9, 1962 in Pekin. He later married Lucille Laverne Bayler Foust on June 28, 1963 in Pekin. She died June 14, 2003 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by 1 son, Larry Newby; 1 step-son, Ronald Foust; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters. Surviving are one daughter, Donna L. (Willie) Cox of Pleasant Plains; one step-daughter, Sharon E. (John) Barger of Pekin; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Floyd Newby of Bartonville. Mr. Newby worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 37 years, retiring July 19, 1976 as a maintenance millwright. Of the Nazarene faith, he was a former member of First Missionary Church in North Pekin. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Thomas J. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Central Illinois Chapter, 606 West Glen Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61614.
He married twice. He married Grace C. Duckworth August 20, 1934 in Carni, IL. Grace was born 1915. Grace died April 9, 1962 in Pekin, Tazewell Co., IL. He married Lucille Laverne Bayler Foust June 28, 1963 in Pekin, Tazewell Co., IL. Lucille died June 14, 2003 in Pekin, Tazewell Co., IL.
