A native and lifelong resident of Athens, he was a son of the late Walter Aster and Trula Cook Daugherty. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, and was a member of the N.R.A. He was retired from TVA and worked as a policeman and fireman in Etowah.
Survivors include three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Clota and Ernest Mason, Gloria and Jerry McMinn and Pat Keeton, all of Etowah; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will assemble at Bordwine Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Saturday and proceed to Liberty Hill Cemetery for the 11 a.m. graveside service with Dr. Harold Curtis officiating.
