William died January 22, 2014 in Tabor, Fremont Co., IA. OBIT Marian L. Johnson, age 84 of Thurman, IA, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Grape Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Marian was born February 27, 1929 in Thurman, IA to Cassell Otho Cupp and Eva Fern (Webber) Cupp.
She graduated from Thurman High School then received a degree in Teaching from Peru State College.
On June 18, 1949, she was married to William David Johnson in Council Bluffs, IA. Their first home was on the Leeka farm two miles west of Thurman. After the 1952 flood, they moved to their present home in Thurman.
Marian taught school for 20 years at Treynor, Thurman, Bartlett and Percival, Iowa while Bill farmed.
Together, they enjoyed traveling, bowling in Nebraska City and Glenwood, playing cards and were members of the Thurman United Methodist Church.
Marian was also a member of the Pythian Sisters in Thurman for many years.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Norma McKim; twin brother, Max Cupp; and father-in-law, Lawrence Johnson.
She is survived her husband, Bill Johnson of Thurman, IA; son, John Johnson and wife Sue of Omaha, NE; 2 grandchildren, Ryan Johnson and wife Maggie and Emily Johnson all of Omaha; mother-in-law, Ruby Johnson of Sidney, IA: sister-in-law, Carol Bachelor of Grayslake, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He married Marian Lorraine Cupp June 18, 1949 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., IA. Marian was born February 27, 1929. Marian was the daughter of Cassell Otho Cupp and Eva F. Webber. Marian died February 27,2013 in Barlett Fremont Co., IA.
William David Johnson and Marian Lorraine Cupp had the following child:
