He married Anna Esther Shaffer 1885. Anna was born April 1869 in Selfton, Effingham Co., IL. Anna was the daughter of Henry Shaffer and Lydia C. Huber. Anna died 1943.

John Samuel Allgood and Anna Esther Shaffer had the following children:

 2253 ii. James Edward Allgood was born August 12, 1889. James died May 9, 1890.

 2254 iii. Claud William Allgood was born August 4, 1891.

 2255 iv. Mary Lois Allgood was born August 28,, 1894.
