He married Leola Velma Gowin October 29,1927. Leola was born May 29, 1908. Leola was the daughter of Alva Sowin and Nola Randolph. Leola died June 27, 2001 in Walnut Creek, IN. Obit: Leola V. Modlin, 93, Greencastle, died Wednesday morning at Walnut Creek at Sunset nursing home, Greencastle.
Born May 29, 1908 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Alva and Nola (Randolph) Gowin.
A Bainbridge High School graduate, she had worked at Angwell Curtain Factory and was a member of the Fillmore Methodist Church.
She married Kenneth Modlin, and he preceded her in death in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Clifford Modlin and wife Joyce, Greencastle; a grandson, Darrel Modlin, Greencastle; a granddaughter, Brenda Reed, Indianapolis, and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Robinson.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Brick Chapel Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Darrell Modlin and Leola Velma Gowin had the following children:
