Karl died January 1, 2010 in Mulberry, IN. OBIT: Karl D. Thompson, 96, of 502 W. Jackson St., died at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
He was born Oct. 4, 1913 in Georgetown, Il. to the late Earl C. and Espa N. Gainers Thompson. He married Opal Leona Harper on Aug. 10, 1935. She died Sept. 27, 1996.
Surviving are a son Mark L. Thompson (wife: Penny) of Martinsville; daughters, Sheila J. Myers (husband: Don) of Mulberry and Michelle Maciok (husband: Richard) of Austin, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Neil E. Thompson; a grandson, Mark Lee Thompson; two brothers, Paul Thompson and Max Thompson and two sisters, Sylvia Grace Kelley and Virginia Bond.
He married Opal Leona Harper April 10, 1935. Opal died September 27, 1996.
