John died January 7, 2005. OBIT: John Lincoln Killebrew 1922 - 2005 On January 7, 2005, our dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and brother finished the race and is now home with Jesus. He was born February 22, 1922 in Canadian, Texas to Simeon Jackson Killebrew and Mabel Simmons Killebrew. John served his country as a service member in the U.S. Navy with the U.S.S. Oconto and retired from many years of civil service with the U.S. Air Force. He worked hard, loved life and made friends everywhere he went. He visited two coffee shops before 5 a.m. every morning to trade stories with his old cronies. Jay loved a great garage sale, the swap meet, metal detecting and traveling. He had a wonderful sense of humor which he used to tease his loved ones mercilessly. His family and countless friends will all miss him very much but also take comfort in knowing he is resting in Jesus' arms. We are so thankful for the strength and grace given him to face his last days with courage. Thank you Daddy and Grandpa for all you taught us. Thank you, LORD for blessing us with him. Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things Enter into the joy of your Master (Matthew 25:23). John is survived by his dear wife and best friend Frances, his children Julie Ann and Garth, his grandchildren Sara, Matthew and Jon Michael and his sisters Cleta and Sue. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 7 p.m. at the Roy Christian Church, 4347 So. 1900 W. Roy, Utah. Cremation under the direction of Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. John wished for donations to be made to the Utah Food Bank in lieu of flowers. Special thanks to Frank Haglund M.D. and Anna Beck M.D. and to their office staffs for the compassionate care given to John. Also to the staff and volunteers of Vista Care Hospice and Mary with Comfort Keepers.
He married Mabel Victoria Simmons. Mabel was born January 28, 1888 in Pikeville, Bledsoe Co., TN. Mabel was the daughter of Abraham Lincoln Simmons and Nancy Jane Creason. Mabel died March 9, 1981 in Visalia, Tulare Co., CA.
