She married Eugene Claude Martin August 16, 1946 in Elk City, Beckham Co., OK. Eugene was born July 11, 1928 in Stillwater, Payne Co., OK. Eugene was the son of Raymond R. Martin and Nola V. Hall. Eugene died March 5, 2008 in Stillwater, Payne Co., OK. OBIT: Eugene C. Martin, 79, of Stillwater went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Strode Funeral Chapel with Pastor Leroy Hawkins and the Rev. Daniel Sturgeon officiating. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday at Strode Funeral Home. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born July 11, 1928 in Stillwater to Raymond R. Martin and Nola V. (Hall) Martin. He was reared and educated in Stillwater. He served in the Army Air Force with the Military Police. He completed his basic training in Fort Chaffee, Ark., and was stationed in Amarillo, Texas and Biloxi, Miss.
He married Loretta Davis on Aug. 16, 1946 in Elk City. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2004.
The Martins returned to Stillwater in 1956 where he worked as an auto body technician for Ward Chevrolet, Vincent Chevrolet and Mac’s Body Shop. He began employment for the city of Stillwater in 1975 in the street division of the Public Works Department and upon his retirement in 1990 held the position of garage superintendent.
He was called to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ at a very young age and was pastor at the Gospel Light House Church in Stillwater for a short time before evangelizing in the surrounding areas. He carried a burden for lost souls and witnessed for Christ at every opportunity. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta, of 58 years; parents; three sisters, Jurine Wise, Christina Crutchfield, Beulah Martindale; four brothers, Clifford Martin, Roma Martin, Wallace Martin, Cleo Martin; one son-in-law, Lee Ricord; grandparents, Columbus and Adlphia Hall, James and Eliza Jarvis Martin.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis Martin and his wife Phyllis of Stillwater; David Martin and his wife Rachelle of Stillwater; two daughters, Patty Lowery and her husband Chuck of Stillwater; Carolyn Ricord of Stillwater; nine grandchildren, Dennis Martin, Jr. and his wife April of Glencoe, Damian Martin and his wife C.C. of Stillwater, Cheavis Martin of Stillwater, Tammy Mathis and her husband Seth of Stillwater, Nicky Ricord of Stillwater, Mischelle Ricord of Stillwater, Keely Martin of Stillwater, Angela Hoover and her husband Kurt of Stillwater, Amy O’Neill and her husband Patrick of Dacula, Ga.; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Leona Segura of Manteca, Calif.; one brother, Donald Ray Beene of Bristow; one step-brother, Junior Monroe of Yukon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
