Sidney died August 14, 2003 in Leitchfield, Grayson Co., KY. OBIT: Sidney "Jake" Lucas, age 88, died Thursday, August 14 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 24, 1915 in Breckinridge County, the son of Melvin and Mary Eliza Lucas.
He was a retired sawmill laborer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bessie Howard Lucas; one son, Bryant Rudolph Lucas; one daughter, Cleta Butts; one granddaughter, Diane Butts and one sister Ersie Butler.
He is survived by two daughters, Edith Paul and Margie George of Hudson, Ky.; one son James L. Lucas of Hudson, Ky.; three sisters, Annie Whitworth and Janie Leslie of Constantine, Ky. and Pauline Lucas of Hudson, Ky.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, August 17 at 2 p.m. at the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy Tucker and Brother Murrell Meredith officiating.
Burial was in the Cook Cemetery.
He married Bessie W. Howard. Bessie was born November 11, 1908 in Breckinridge Co., KY. Bessie was the daughter of Johnathan (Tug) Howard and Glovia Mitchelene (Glovie) Graham. Bessie died June 25, 1993 in Breckinridge Co., KY. Bessie was buried in the Madrid Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery
