She was born Jan. 3, 1927 in Oilton, Okla. to Justin J. Layne and Mary (Robison) Layne. She graduated from high school in Cali. She married Arthur Epperson on June 8, 1948 in Shawnee. She was a homemaker most of her life and worked briefly at Golden Rule doing laundry. She was very active in her church, Heritage Baptist, Women's Auxiliary Ministry, and had been very active in her children's activities, serving as Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and being a home Room Mother at the school. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening and traveling. Preceeded in death by parents; her husband; and an infant brother. Survivors include four children, Arthur Epperson Jr. and wife Noma of Shawnee; Jeanne Dockery and husband Bennie of Earlsboro; Susan Epperson of Shawnee; David L. Epperson of Cushing; grandchildren, Jenese Snow of Chickasha; Brian Epperson of Missoula, Mont., Andy Dockery of Earlsboro, Jake Dockery of Earlsboro, Jimmy Dockery of Earlsboro; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dickert of Tyler, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Chapel of Walker Funeral Service. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. She married Arthur Burne Epperson. Arthur was born December 23, 1917. Arthur died February 22, 2004 in Shawnee, Pottawatomie Co., OK.
