was born, November 6, 1958 to Shirley and Donald Hutchens, who brought him home to a house of love. Mickey loved his sisters Sherri and
Wendy as they came into the family. He was very proud to have attended Forbush Elementary and to have graduated from Forbush High School in
1976. Mickey received an Associate’s Degree from Surry Community College in 1979 and a Bachelor’s of Arts from Gardner-Webb University in
1981. He made his profession of faith as a child and was a member of Forbush Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and loved doing
local mission work. Mickey joined the Winston-Salem Police Department and was so proud to be a police officer.. He loved his squad and
seeing each one of them becoming a better officer every day. Mickey loved his time as a juvenile detective, and was so proud that he had
served in the Office of Professional Standards for the department. Mickey loved his family and was a great dad to Jill and Leah, taking real
pride in their achievements. No one could have been a better father to them. Mickey spent many hours playing the guitar with his best friend
Bobby, in the outdoors with his very spoiled dog Lilly, or with Phillip fixing things and cooking barbeque. Mickey is survived by his wife
Beth and daughters Jill and Leah, his sisters Sherri and Wendy and brothers-in-law Kevin and John, his mother Shirley and step-father Donald
Bowen, his mother-in-law Bonnie Hennings, nieces Rebecca and Rachel, and his nephew Preston who had such a special place in his heart and

Bobby, who was like a brother to Mickey, and Eileen his partner from juvenile, also Beth’s Wake Forest University Family has a very special

Highway Patrol, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the Wake Forest University Police, the members of Behind the Blue Line for their
unwavering service to our immediate family and friends and our Winston Salem Police Department family and friends during this time. We have
had many special friends who have spent time with us, ran errands, or simply sat with us this past week and shared with us the impact Mickey
had made on each of their lives. Thanks to Lori, Loree, Brette, Lizzie, Charlene, Bonnie, and Melissa. We cannot express enough appreciation
for the amount of love and prayers the community has provided during our time of need. Each of your cards, prayer quilts, and flowers has
touched our lives in honoring Mickey. We are certain of Mickey’s presence in heaven now, but we will still miss him every day until we can
join him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sgt. Mickey Hutchens Memorial Scholarship Fund at any Wachovia Branch. The
