Joseph died October 19, 2006 in Yadkinville, Yadkin Co., NC. OBIT: Mr. Joseph Carl Pinnix, 84, of Mahaney Rock Road, Yadkinville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Hoots Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Yadkin County to Joseph Andrew and Edna Lee Hutchens Pinnix. Mr. Pinnix was a veteran of World War II, having served from 1942 to 1945 with the 116th Calvary Division of the U.S. Army in Europe, where he received the EAME Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of Yadkin Baptist Mission,where he served as a deacon. His favorite times were spent playing his banjo at nursing homes, the senior center or at several churches. He was a member of Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and Courtney Ruritan Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Zola G. Pinnix; a son, Joel Gray Pinnix; two brothers, Talmadge E. Pinnix and Lester Pinnix; and a sister, Ada P. Shore. Surviving are his wife, Irene Sizemore Pinnix of the home; a daughter, Brenda (Larry) Sheek of Yadkinville; three sons, David Pinnix and Les (Gail) Pinnix, all of Yadkinville, and Larry (Sherry) Pinnix of Jonesville; a stepdaughter, Sarah Sizemore-Lawson; three stepsons, Tommy (Gail) Sizemore and Johnny (Linda) Sizemore, all of Boonville, and Freddy (Nancy) Sizemore of Moravian Falls; three grandchildren, James Shannon) Sheek and Jeffrey (Angela) Sheek, all of Yadkinville, and Jennifer (Jay) Berry of Thurman; several stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; a stepgreat-great-grandchild; and many close friends who stood by the family. His funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Hale, the Rev. Ronnie Milsap and the Rev. Ronnie Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 20, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
He married twice. He married Zola Gray Caudle November 23, 1946 in Yadkin Co., NC. Zola was born April 30, 1927 in Booneville, Ydkin Co., NC. Zola was the daughter of Marvin Caudle and Rozzie Pickett. Zola died March 7, 1978 in Mocksville, Davie Co., NC.
