He married Mary Laura Cox. Mary was born 1893 in Pendleton Co., KY. Mary was the daughter of Allen Cox and Cin Cattle.

James Fairchild and Mary Laura Cox had the following children:

 13977 i. Estell Ray¹⁰ Fairchild was born May 20, 1915.

 13978 ii. Earl Franklin Fairchild was born in Morgan Co., KY May 31,1920. He married Laura Hazel Brown November 24, 1945 in Franklin Co., OH. Laura was born February 14,1922 in Williamson, WV. Laura was the daughter of Hebert C Brown and Mary Alice Cox. Laura died Septemberr 9, 2000 in Arlington, Tarrant Co., TX.
