5221. Asa C.⁹ Howard (Martha L.⁸ Fairchild, Mary Beth⁷ Keeton, James Edmund⁶, Nancy Ann⁵ Allgood, Moses⁴, Edward³, William², Edward¹ Algood) was born in Pendleton Co., KY January 21, 1907. Asa died July 25, 1966 in Magoffin Co., KY.

He married Gladys Long. Gladys was born December 19, 1912 in Magoffin Co., KY. Gladys was the daughter of Paris Franklin Long and Ethel Clarke Ferguson. Gladys died July 5, 2001 in Melbourne, Brevard Co., FL. OBIT: Gladys Long Howard Spradling, 88, of Melbourne, Florida, formally of Magoffin County, died July 5, 2001, at her residence. Born December 19, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Paris Long and Ethel Ferguson Long. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, A.C. Howard, and Dord Spradling. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Salyersville Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include one brother, John Long, of Enon, Ohio; one sister, Callie Conley, of Melbourne, Florida; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Sunday, July 8, at the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Magoffin County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
