James died March 19, 2004 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co, AL. OBIT: CREW, MSgt. USAF (Retired) James A., 76, a resident of Montgomery, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away Friday, March 19, 2004, in a local hospital. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at 2 p.m. in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Survivors include his devoted wife of 54 years, Mildred A. Crew; one son, James F. Crew, Birmingham, AL; three daughters, Robbie Norris, Niceville, FL, Paula Johnson, Butler, AL, Diane Woodruff, Montgomery, AL; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Crew, Wetumpka, AL. James served tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam; and was also retired with Herff-Jones Publishing Co. J

He married Mildred Abigail Ward 1950 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co, AL. Mildred was born October 15, 1930 in Wetumpka, Elmore Co., AL. Mildred was the daughter of Thomas Ward and Pauline (___). Mildred died February 28, 2015 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co, AL. OBIT: Crew, Mildred Ward 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday February 28, 2015 after an extended illness. Mrs. Crew was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Pauline Ward of Wetumpka and her husband of 54 years, James Aubrey Crew. She is survived by her four children, Robbie Norris, Choctaw Beach Florida, Paula Johnson, Montgomery, Jim Crew (Nancy), Birmingham, AL and Diane Woodruff (David), Hope Hull, AL, her sister, Ann Brooks (Sonny), Greenville, AL, six grandsons, one great-granddaughter, two great-grandsons, a host of nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Sadie.

Mrs. Crew graduated valedictorian of Wetumpka High School in 1949 and then married James in 1950. After having four children and being stationed around the globe with the Air Force, she and James settled in Montgomery in 1970. She retired with the Alabama Department of Public Safety in 1991. Mildred had a smile for everyone she met, never met a stranger and loved her Auburn Tigers. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 4, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
