Carl died September 5, 2009 in Anderson, Anderson Co., SC. OBIT: Mr. Carl Benjamin Duncan, Jr., age 84, of Hartwell Health Care Center passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at 2pm from the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Reverend Sam Duncan will officiate and burial with Military Honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6pm until 8pm on Monday, September 7, 2009.
Born in Hartwell, on October 11, 1924, he was a son of the late Carl B. Duncan, Sr., and Vera Cleveland Duncan. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Duncan retired from Flowers Bakery Company and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Gail McLane Duncan; son, Frank Duncan and wife, Julie of Bailey, NC; daughters, Angela Osborne and husband, Eddie of Anderson, Carla Polson and husband, Dereck of Greer, Dori Marcovechio and husband, Tony of Bluffton, and Gwen Elmore and husband, Charles of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Heather, Josh, Cory, Jordan, Ben, Zachary, Jared, and Madeline; and sisters, Joyce Thomas and Effie Fernalin.
He married twice. He married Gail McLane. Gail was born Noember 14,1941 in Hartwell, Hart Co., GA. Gail was the daughter of Frank Harrison McLane and Reedie (___). Gail died June 18o;, 2011 in Hartwell, Hart Co., GA. He married Carrrie Lee Houseer. Carrrie was born August 2, 1923 in Vale, Lincoln Co., NC. Carrrie was the daughter of Tholmas Gasston Hoouser and Jettie Mae Leatherman. Carrrie died August 29,2015 in Hickory, Catawba Co., NC.
