4400. Rolland Leonard9 Dance (Mary Ann8 Sheppard, Elida (Lydia)7 Allgood, Peter6, William (Pikey) Henry5, William John4, Edward3, William2, Edward1 Algood) was born in near Vandalia, IL March 22, 1884. Rolland died December 30, 1926 in IL. OBIT: Rolland Dance, aged forty two years died at St Marys Hospital at 8:30 oclock Thursday night. His death was caused by a tumor of the brain. He had been in failing health for six years. Last fall Mr. Dance went to the Mayo Brothers, Rochester, Minn, to have an operation preformed in the hope of securing relief, but on account of his condition an operation was not thought advisable. About three years ago he went to Montana and spent considerable time on a ranch in the hope of improving his health. While there his little son (Marion) was thrown and dragged by a horse and died from his injuries. Mr. Dance brought the body home and has since resided with his brother,Fred dance, at 2640 w. William street. During his early life, Mr. Dance spent several years in Oklahoma and there learned the barber trade.(His three brothers' and father Asberry, were also barbers) For the last eight or ten years he had been associated with his brothers, Fred, and Leo Dance in the Orlando barber shop. He was well known and had many friends in the city. He was a member of the Methodist church in Centralia and of the Moose lodge in Decatur. He is survived by two children, Vivan Dance and Monroe Dance of Los Angeles, Cal. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Mary Grandfield, of Altamont and the following brothers and sisters, Fred and Leo Dance of Decatur, Mrs. C. H. Hoffmyer of Kempton, Ill, Darnell Asberry Dance of Chicago, Mrs. Amanda Cole of Macon, Mrs. Jennie Goldsborough of Brownstown, Ill and Mrs. Zora Sapp of Altamont. The funeral will be held at 2 oclock Satuday afternon at the Morand and Sons chapel. The burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetry.
He married Lessie Stepp. Lessie was born March 1,1887 in KS. Lessie was the daughter of Marion John Stepp and Leolta J Griffith. Lessie died April 18,1971 in Los Angeles Co., CA.
Rolland Leonard Dance and Lessie Stepp had the following children:

12380 ii. Marion James Dance was born in Chickawaw, Grady Co., OK August 24, 1907. Marion died January 6, 1925 in MT.
12381 iii. Grace Elizabeth Dance was born 1908. Grace died 1923.
12382 iv. William Monroe Dance was born in Ryan, Bryan Co., OK December 1909. William died March 19, 1944 in Killed in action.
