Ruth died November 29, 2011 in Soldotna, AK. OBIT: Longtime Kenai resident Ruth Evelyn Pritchard, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 from cancer at Heritage Place in Soldotna. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kenai. Bishop Troy Robeck will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Cooper, Larry Mitchell, Dennis Pritchard, Terry Held, Jay Cooper and Benjamin Mitchell. She will be buried next to her husband in the family plot at home. Ruth was born Nov. 1, 1927 in Macon, Illinois to Dan and Velma (Cole) Hildebrand. She received her education at the French Town High School. She married Sherman Pritchard on March 30, 1946. Ruth moved to Alaska in June, 1972 and resided in Kenai. She worked as a seamstress in Montana and Alaska. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She cooked for the Kenai Senior Center, was a campground hostess in Anchor Point, and was involved in the Redoubt Homemakers, where she held many positions. Ruth collected bells and porcelain dolls. She also enjoyed working puzzles and making ceramics. "Beloved mother, your passing will leave a void in the heart of family and many others you came in contact with. God be with you till we meet again," her family said. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Sherman Pritchard, her parents, Dan and Velma Hildebrand, son, Fred Pritchard, sisters, Iris Perry, Lois Boggess and Jean Marks, and a brother, Robert Hildebrand. She is survived by her son, Sherman Dennis Pritchard of Deer Lodge, Mont.; daughters and sons-in-law, Bernadine and Henry Cooper, Denyse and Larry Mitchell all of Kenai, and Dana and Terry Held of Silver Star, Mont.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She married Sherman Pritchard March 30, 1946. Sherman was born October 7, 1921. Sherman died October 15, 2004 in Kenai, Kenai Peninsula, AK.
