He married Dora Lee Coley 1897. Dora was born October 13, 1870 in Warren Co., NC. Dora was the daughter of Henry Newton Coley and Mrry Jane Dickerson. Dora died February 3, 1956 in Franklin Co., NC.
James Blair Smith and Dora Lee Coley had the following children:

1812 ii. Perry Maurice Smith was born in Morganton, Burke Co., NC August 12, 1905. Perry died March 9, 1985 in Richmond, Richmond Co., VA. He married Lois Hart October 14, 1937 in Richmond, Henrico Co., VA. Lois was born October 14, 1905 in Richmond, Richmond Co., VA. Lois was the daughter of Emmett S Hart and Mattie G Perkins. Lois died November 23, 2001 in Richmond, Richmond Co., VA.
1813 iii. Lottie Josephine Smith was born March 21,1907.
1814 iv. Tollie David Smith was born January 1, 1910.
1815 v. Edwin Blair Smith was born July 22,1912.
1816 vi. Ethel Mae Smith was born September 8, 1914.
1817 vii. Hodge Lee Smith was born November 8, 1917.
1818 viii. Infant Smith was born in Morganton, Burke Co., NC December 7, 1928. Infant died December 27, 1928 in Morganton, Burke Co., NC.
