Bettie died February 18, 2011 in Louisburg, Farnklin Co., NC. OBIT: Bettie Corine Smith Murphy, 89, of Louisburg, died Friday, February 18, 2011, in Nash General Hospital. She was born November 14,1921, the daughter of Joseph Eugene Smith and Naomi Hayes Smith. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served on the deacon board and was church treasurer for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Murphy; her son, Donald Murphy; her brothers, Julian, Newell, Marshall, Ira and Edward Smith. She was a supervisor at Sportswear in Warren County and Louisburg and Tom Togs in Youngsville where she retired.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Don McGinnis officiating. Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Murphy and wife, Pat of Lousburg; her daughters, Judy Harp and husband, Junious of Shelby, NC, Betty Jean Adams and husband, Barry of Louisburg; her daughter-in-law, Margaret Murphy of Cary; her sister, Alyce Bennett of Cary, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 111 Laurel Mill Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.
She married Elbert Sidney Murphy November 8, 1940 in Franklin Co., NC. Elbert was born February 14,1914. Elbert died June 7, 1978 in Louisburg, Farnklin Co., NC.
Bettie Corine Smith and Elbert Sidney Murphy had the following children:

15539 ii. Ronald Elbert Murphy was born in Franklin Co., NC June 9, 1942. Ronald died March 27, 2017. He married twice. He married Pat Drummond.
