He married Doris Jackson. Doris was born December 18, 1930 in Duluth, Gwinnett Co., GA. Doris was the daughter of Charles Douglas Jackson and Maxine Elliott Adams. Doris died December 9, 2011 in Ellenwood, Clayton Co., GA. OBIT: Doris Jackson McGarity, age 80, of Ellenwood, Georgia, formerly of Gwinnett County, entered into rest on Friday, December 9, 2011. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law; Katrina & Jeff Spencer of Sandy Springs, GA; grandson, Allan Spencer of Pepperdine University; sister-in-law, Barbara Jackson of Lawrenceville, GA; brother-in-law, Millard Rowe of Newborn, GA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, Elizabeth Rowe, Lamar Jackson, Henry Jackson, Jerry (Joyce) Jackson, and husband David Clinton McGarity. Mrs. McGarity was born in Duluth, Georgia, on December 18, 1930 to Maxine Elliott Adams Jackson and Charles Douglas Jackson. She graduated from the former Duluth School and worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. for 47 years at the Ponce de Leon and Tucker locations. Her favorite saying was, “If you can’t do something right, then just don’t do it.” Mrs. McGarity was a hard worker, especially, in her yard and home. She will be known for her meticulous attention to detail, dedication, and love for her family. This gracious lady will be greatly missed by everyone. A Service Celebrating the Life of Doris Jackson McGarity will be held on her birthday, Sunday, December 18, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Rev. David Sharpton officiating. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Duluth, GA.
