David died January 14, 2009. OBIT: David Rick Lee, 56, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Saint Stephen United Methodist Church. Private family burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mr. Lee was born Nov. 5, 1952, in Hereford to Rex and Helen Lee. He grew up in Hereford and graduated from Hereford High School in 1971. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in education from West Texas State and practiced as a licensed professional counselor for many years. He married Leslie Brush in 1992 in Canyon.
Rick also was a talented and accomplished musician and artist. He enjoyed gardening and was passionate about helping others through his counseling. Rick had a love for people. He fashioned his life's work helping others. He was a successful psychologist who worked for 10 years with Family Protective Services. For the last few years of his life, he counseled in nursing homes, where he saw a special need. He took his faithful companion, Shiloh, his Australian shepherd, as a registered therapy dog. He often said the elderly would rather see Shiloh than him. "A good man is concerned for the welfare of his animals." - Proverbs 12:10.
Survivors include his wife, Leslie; a son, Christopher Lee and wife Amber of Amarillo; a daughter; Summer Lee of Dallas; his parents, Rex and Helen Lee of Amarillo; two brothers, Terry Ren Lee and wife Linda of Arlington and Jere Rex Lee and wife Amy of Canyon; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Don and Sunny Brush of Amarillo; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve and Angie Brush and Traci and Keith Pace; nephews, William and John Lee and Matthew Brush, Michael Flores and Kyle Pace; and a niece, Keeley Lee of Canyon.
He married twice.
David Rick Lee and Wendy Gail Kirkpatrick had the following children:
