Wayne died November 8, 2011 in Beardstown, Cass Co., IL. OBIT: Wayne F. Dyer, 77, of Beardstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, in his home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born March 3, 1934, in Beardstown, the son of George Sr. and Viola M. Loughary Dyer. He married Margaret L. Reither on Oct. 17, 1954, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown.
Surviving is his wife, Margaret Dyer of Beardstown; two children, Steve (wife, Angie) Dyer of Sherman and Teri (husband, Ed) Eustice of Beardstown; four grandchildren, David and Joseph Dyer and Andrew and Adam Eustice; two brothers, Michael Dyer of New York and Larry Dyer of Elkhart, Ind.; one sister, Ida Mae Prescott of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ricky Lee Dyer; and one brother, George Dyer Jr.
Wayne graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1952. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he formerly served on the Church Council. He was employed with the State of Illinois as a Savings and Loan Examiner until his retirement in 1991, and following his retirement he owned and operated Wayne's Locksmith Shop in Beardstown. Wayne formerly served on the Cass County Housing Authority Board and also drove a senior citizen bus for Cass County Council on Aging. He especially enjoyed being outdoors, working in his yard, fishing, playing cards, visiting with his neighbors and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Wayne's truest treasures in life came from the love of his family and his pride in his grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Burial will be at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
