Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 27, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Dr. Hal Brady and Reverend Helen Berenthien officiating, with a private family burial to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Mr. Kinney was born March 1, 1924, in Columbus, Georgia, son of the late Mamie Adelaide Waters Kinney Davis and Harry Moran Kinney, Sr. Mr. Kinney was a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Air Force and a World War II veteran of the 450th Group Bombardment Group (H), 15th Army Air Force, also known as "The Cottontails". A graduate of Jordan High School and Auburn University, he founded and owned several successful companies in Columbus. He was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club.

His wife, Clara Susan McVey Kinney, precedes Mr. Kinney in death. His daughter, Harriet Elizabeth Kinney and extended family survive him

He married Clara Susan McVey. Clara was born April 10, 1927 in Hattisburg, Forrest Co., MS. Clara died Augusst 21, 2004 in Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA. OBIT: Sue Kinney, 77, of Columbus, died Saturday, August 21 in Columbus.

Mrs. Kinney was born April 10, 1927, in Hattiesburg, Miss., daughter of the late William T. McVey and Ruth N. Sells McVey. She received her undergraduate degree in music from the University of Southern Mississippi (1948) and her master's degree from the Candler School of Theology, Emory University (1952). She was the first woman ordained as a deacon and elder in the Seashore District of Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church, one of the first women licensed to preach in the South Georgia Conference, and the first woman licensed to preach in the Columbus District of the South Georgia Conference, United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kinney worked as the Director of Christian Education for Central Street United Methodist Church, Florence, South Carolina and St. Luke United Methodist Church, Columbus, Ga. Most recently, she was a homemaker and was active in numerous organizations, including tenure as Regent of the Oglethorpe Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, various leadership positions in the United Methodist Women of St. Luke United Methodist Church, and a volunteer at Callaway Gardens. Survivors include her husband, Harry M. Kinney; a daughter, Harriet Kinney; and a sister, Nancy McVey.
