He married Gladys Iola Neal. Gladys was born December 6,1915 in Franklin Co., NC. Gladys was the daughter of William Henry Neal and Effie Jane Duke. Gladys died November 13, 2004 in New Hanover Co., NC. OBIT: Gladys Neal Weldon, age 88, a resident of Weldon Road, died Saturday evening at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Wilmington. A native of Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Neal and Effie Duke Neal, and was the widow of Julian Kermit Weldon. She was a homemaker and former Chairperson of the Hayesville Township of Franklin County Democratic Party for 25 years. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. Jackie Allen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Betsy W. Williams of Rose Hill and Carolyn W. Taylor and husband, Harry, of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Gene Price, Cecelia W. Hudson, Danielle W. Sills, Kermitt Taylor, Neal Taylor, and Reid Overton; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Muriel W. Price and Marie W. Overton.
The family received friends Tuesday night from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at her home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Gene Price, Kermitt Taylor, Neal Taylor, Reid Overton, Jart Hudson, and Jim Sills.
Julian Kermit Weldon and Gladys Iola Neal had the following children:
