Mamie died April 8, 2014 in Raleigh, Wake Co., NC. OBIT: Mamie Smith Stallings Joyner died peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday evening in Raleigh, NC. She was born on February 14, 1932 in Warren County to her parents, David Thomas Smith, Sr., and Cora Pendergrass Smith. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter D. “Buddy” Stallings and Johnny Joyner and her son, Gregory S. Stallings and her grandson, Matthew R. Byrnes.
Surviving are her sons, Gene Stallings and wife, Judy of Raleigh, David Stallings of Raleigh and her daughter, Patricia Joyner Wallace and husband, Ronnie of Sandersville, GA and six grandchildren, Sandee Carpenter of Wilson, Brandie Kutch of Raleigh, Jessica, Savannah and Hunter Stallings of Youngsville and seven great grandchildren. Also she is survived by her brothers and sisters, David T. Smith, Jr., of Tampa, Fl, Roberta S. Nave of Decatur, AL, Kenneth Smith and Wayne Smith of Louisburg and Cyndi S. Brown of Henderson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She married twice. She married Walter Douglas (Buddy) Stallings JR. Walter was born January 12, 1923 in Warren Co., NC. Walter was the son of Ethel Vician Harris and Ethel Vician Harris. Walter died December 21, 1960 in Warren Co., NC. She married Johnny Joyner May 14,1962 in Emporia, Greenville Co. VA. Johnny was born March 26, 1937. Johnny was the son of Johnny Lee lJoyner and Betty A Taylor. Johnny died December 28, 2006 in Warren Co., NC.
