He married Edna Glenn Dunn November 20, 1937 in Boydton, Mecklenburg Co, VA. Edna was born February 4, 1917 in Mecklenburg Co, VA. Edna was the daughter of William Edward Dunn and Edna Lee Snead. Edna died February 26, 2004 in Boydton, Mecklenburg Co., VA.

Alexander Rainey Allgood and Edna Glenn Dunn had the following children:
