Alfred died March 21, 1985 in Dekalb Co. GA.
He married Mary L. Walker. Mary was born December 28 1938 in Dekalb Co. GA. Mary was the daughter of Sam Walker. Mary died Septembe 7, 2009 in Doraville, DeKalb Co., GA. OBITMary L. Walker Queen, age 70, passed away Monday morning, September 7, 2009, at her home in Doraville, GA.
She was born in Dekalb County, Illinois, on December 28, 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Daniel Queen, and her parents. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Pierce, of Doraville, GA, and the late Sam Walker, of Illinois.
A resident of Doraville for most of her life, she had been employed by General Motors, as well as the Dekalb County School System Traffic Guards. Mary was a loving mother and devoted grandmother, whose world revolved around the interests and activities of her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with those she loved. She had a generous spirit, and often thought of others before herself. She could make a special occasion out of any day, but especially looked forward in anticipation to family birthdays and holiday get-togethers.
Full of life, she kept herself busy working around the house. However she also loved to relax by taking frequent trips to Helen, GA, with her family.
She is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Teri Williams, of Duluth, and Johnny and Gwen Queen, of Loganville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Ken Keown, of Tucker, Lisa and Mark Coan, of Duluth, and Marie Queen, of Doraville; seven grandchildren, Tim Keown, Nic Williams, Jessica Coan, Matthew Coan, Megan Queen, Daniel Queen, and Trevor Queen; a sister, Nancy Long, of Norcross, and three nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home Chapel in Norcross. Afterwards, a private burial service will be held at North Atlanta Memorial Park on Winters Chapel Road, Doraville.:
